What is Johnson Broadcasting Co. Johnson Broadcasting Company Inc. is a minority owned low power Community Based Television Station, with a simulcast component. That allows our stations to Broadcast on the F. M. Band. Our Television stations call letters are m-IPWe transmit on channel 06 over air, and also, on 87.7 on your radio Johnson Broadcasting Company, Inc. is currently transmitting with 16 watts of power, but will soon be advancing our power level to 100 watts.
Johnson Broadcasting Company, Inc. is registered as a 501(c-3) not for profit organization in Broome County.
Johnson Broadcasting Company, Inc. The company was founded in 1994 for the purpose of starting and operating a low power television station serving the Broome County, New York market. The founder of the Company, Mr. Johnson was issued a construction permit from the Federal Communications Commission (the FCC). This license was granted on February 12,2004. Mr. Johnson transferred this to the Company.
The company intends to construct facilities for the operation of a low power Television Broadcasting Station operating in the Broome County area.
BIOGRAPHY FOR KENNETH JOHNSON Mr. Kenneth Johnson is founder of Johnson Broadcasting Company Inc. He is the Chief Executive Officer and General Manager; responsible for all department operations and supervision of all over air productions.Mr. Johnson has a Bachelor’s of Science Degree from Oneonta State College in Sociology and a minor Physics and electronic technology. Mr. Johnson also has a Master’s Degree in Social Science (problems in Society) from Binghamton University. Mr. Johnson has been involved in Radio and Broadcasting for over 30 years and is an Amateur Radio operator (ham) in the State of New York. Mr. Johnson is a long-time resident and Binghamton Native. Mr. Johnson has worked for the Federal Berea of Prisons as a Public Safety Officer for the Binghamton Half-Way House. And the director of the Means Shelter in Binghamton, New York.
BIOGRAPHY FOR VALERIE STEELE Mrs. Valerie Steele is Vice President of Johnson Broadcasting Company Inc. Mrs. Steele is currently the Assistant General Manager of Johnson Broadcasting Company; Responsible for daily operation of programming and presentation. Mrs. Steele is also acting corporate Treasurer and in that capacity manages all the fiscal reports for Johnson Broadcasting Company. Mrs. Steele has an Associate’s Degree from the Borough of Manhattan Community College in Human Services and is completing her Bachelors of Science Degree in Human Services from Empire College. Mrs. Steele has also completed her certificate as a family advocate from Cornell Extension College, and is a family counselor for domestic violence for over six years.
BIOGRAPHY FOR CARLTON DAVIS Carlton Davis is a Director at Johnson Broadcasting Company and is responsible for the station's technical and regulatory operations. Mr. Davis has a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.from the University of Delaware and a Master’s Degree in Physics from the Johns Hopkins University. Mr. Davis has been actively involved with Johnson Broadcasting since its conception. For over 30 years, Mr. Davis has been involved in radio and television broadcasting. (JBC) is currently working to expand our range into other communities and counties using the cable Television system. (JBC) is in the negotiations process with Time Warner cable to expand our viewer base and become a greater source for community information and interaction

- Constructed a low power experimental television transmitter to broadcast High Definition television signals in Las Vegas, Nevada.
- Demonstrated High Definition Television broadcasts using a solid state transmitter at KCTS-N in Seattle, Washington.
- Chief Engineer of a university radio station in Buffalo, New York.
- Written a technical paper that was published in the IEEE Broadcasting Proceedings.
- Served on an IEEE committee to review technical papers for the IEEE Broadcasting Proceedings.
- Conducted seminars in Dallas, Texas, Minneapolis, Minnesota and Las Vegas, Nevada that informed engineers and station managers about High Definition television and solid state transmitter technology.
- Worked with Westinghouse Electric and CBS in Baltimore, Maryland to develop and promote High Definition Television using solid state transmitter technology.
